c. 50% of jobs globally would be replaced or 'substantially changed' by automation (OECD, 2018). In addition to the socio-economic implications, clear identity issues arise.
Old questions (in a new context): Are we what we do? How do we generate value? What does it mean to be human? Do robots dream of electric sheep?
Also important to note how perceptions and expectations of tech disruption vary as a result of cultural and socio-economic differences. E.g. US workers are largely unconvinced this is actually happening...
